Tips & Tricks # 13 - Assertion & Reason! An easy way to solve! Part 2: How to solve Assertion/ Reason questions?

Here is the 13th tip.
Assertion & Reason! An easy way to solve! Part 2: How to solve Assertion/ Reason questions?
Most of the Assertion & Reason questions are very simple. But just reading tips and answering may not be that effective. Tips are great to make your own strategies to tackle the exam questions Let us have a closer look. Go stepwise to solve them.
Here is Example-1 Keep the option shortcut ready. Here options are ABCD, A&R are Assertion and Reason & T, F representing True and False.
So the First step is read assertion statement carefully and think whether it is true or false?
1. Assertion: Molarity of a solution in liquid state changes with temperature. It is True. As we know molarity is moles/litre and litre is indicating volume of solution, which changes with temperature so molarity also changes with temperature. So assertion is True
Now read the Reason. And think independently -it is True or False? Reason: The volume of a solution changes with a change in temperature. It is also true.
Now try to connect both the statements with because. Yes! The Reason is also the correct explanation of the assertion.
So, A is the right answer.
Now come to Example-2 and keep the option shortcut ready First step- read assertion statement carefully.
2. Assertion: Among two O–H bonds in H2O molecule, the energy required to break the first O–H bond and the other O–H bond is the same.
It is False because electronic environment is not same during breaking of the first and second bond.
Now read the Reason statement. Reason: This is because the electronic environment around oxygen is the same even after breakage of one O–H bond. It is again false.
Electronic environment changes after breakage of one bond O-H bond. When Assertion and reason, both are false, D is the only option.
So D is the right answer.
Let us recall all steps to crack Assertion/ Reason questions easily. 1. Revise your concept before the examination
2. Read the instructions carefully and write a short note at the corner of the answer sheet because in every exam it may be different.
3. Go stepwise. Read both statements very carefully.
4. Ponder over each statement independently and decide whether it is True or False.

5. Finally decide which option is correct.
6. Analyze your practice test results.
Check the reason: Why are you losing marks? Practice until you get it right.
